Hi,

Thanks for your interest in the OpenGL HTML documentation. This file contains
some info about the pages.

Version
=======

This is version 1.0 from November 13, 1995

Installation
============

Just put all the pages in your favorite directory, but keep them all in one
directory, as there are loads of relative links. You need to have a filesystem
which allows for mixed-case filenames and filenames of reasonable length. I'm
afraid there will be difficulties to install this on a DOS-machine. If you
find nice way of doing it, let me know and I may include a DOS-version.

Apart from keeping all files into a single directory, there are no further
requirements for the basic installation. For the search engine you need at
least some emulation of UNIX.

Searching
=========

There is a search form at the bottom of the index page (opengl.html). To run
this engine you need to have ``perl'' and ``grep'', the well known UNIX
string-processing and text searching tools. You may have to edit the file
``glfind.pl'' to be correctly processed by perl and use the right version
of grep. If you have severe problems, contact me at the address below.

If you don't have these tools, you will not be able to use the search engine.
If you find a nicer or more portable way of doing the search, let me know
for future revisions.

Browsers
========

I tried very hard to make the pages look as close as possible to the original
typesetting from the ``blue book'' while using only basic HTML-features. Your
browser *must* be able to display GIF-files, otherwise you will miss all the
tables and many formulas. Apart from that I'm using only the <CENTER>-extension
from Netscape. If your browser ignores this tag some stuff won't be centered,
but that's it. Mosaic and Netscape process the pages as expected. I don't know
about other browsers, again, if you have difficulties, contact me.
