The ISO_DURATION Structure |
The ISO_DURATION structure allows the ISO 8601 concept of a duration to be implemented. Note that the structure of an ISO_DURATION is exactly the same as an ISO_DATE_TIME. The usage of the two structures is different, however. The ISO_DURATION structure carries the ISO standard units, which are used to measure elapsed time, and not the calendar units, which are used to designate point time. |

The structure is defined in the header file iso_1.h as |
struct ISO_DURATION
{
struct DATE_INFO date;
struct TIME_INFO time;
}; |

8.2.4
The ISO_PERIOD Structure |
The ISO_PERIOD structure allows the ISO concept of period to be expressed and carried. There are essentially three different kinds of period allowed in ISO usage: |
| Missing | Expressed | Expressed | | begin | duration | end | | duration | begin | end | | end | begin | duration |
The duration unit is used as quantity of elapsed time, expressed using the standard ISO units, while begin and end are points in time, conceived as combinations of date and time. The ISO concept of period is similar to the Maya concept of date. In both cases, the missing third unit is logically implied by, and may be reconstructed from, the other two. The structure is defined in the header file iso_1.h as |
struct ISO_PERIOD
{
struct ISO_DATE_TIME begin;
struct ISO_DURATION duration;
struct ISO_DATE_TIME end;
}; |
