The test series from DTLT_168.C through DTLT_173.C, then, define and test functions for all four lunar phases. Agreement with published values is excellent for the years tested. All functions in these programs are hard-coded. |

It should be noted that the preparation of this work spanned several years. In the world of computer software, that is a great deal of time, and much can happen. One of the many things that did happen was the publication of several works that allow small computers to implement lunar ephemerides and complex astronomical calculations which had been previously restricted to larger machines. Throughout much of this work, I allude to the limited applicability of routines that calculate lunar position. Those limits have been expanded since those words were written. As a consequence, it is possible to realistically investigate lunar phase over a wider span of years than was previously possible. |
