If you are developping ASP.NET using VB.NET then the book 'ASP.NET Unleashed' will be more than enough for you and believe me you will not need another book after you read it.A huge number of pages (1440) and covers everything from how to display a hello word to how to develop a whole ASP.NET application ,ADO.NET,Web Services, Server Controls,File manupilation and much more.

If you are using C# in ASP.NET then there is a good book for beginners called 'Beginning ASP.NET using C# ' from Wrox Press.Available here
You can also download the book code and practice on it.
OR do like me and save your money by learning from the internet.There are huge number of articles about ASP.NET ,c#,VB.NET:

ولكن كان توجهي في web deve باستخدام asp و component
ولكن كنت افضل ان اتخصص في web application ولكن لم احقق هدفي بسبب قلة الفرص ضمن نطاق الشركات ، ولكن الآن سوف اعمل جاهدا على تحقيق هذا التخصص خاصة اني قد عملت به لفترة معينه لعدة مشاريع ، ولكن هل تفضل اخ madani بان استخدم vb.bet
من اجل web development الآن .

هذا ونطمع من حظرتكم ومن الاخ محمد خليل أبو صلاح ان نتعاون جميعا من اجل عمل صفحات تعليمية لل asp.net باللغة العربية للبدا بافق .net
خاصة ان الاخ محمد خليل أبو صلاح لديه موقع جميل جدا جزاه الله كل خير على ذلك الموقع .:rolleyes:
شكرا لك أخ it_moh و هذا فقط من ذوقك .. بخصوص اختيار لغة
لاعتمادها هناك مقال مثبت عن ايهما تفضل و الأغلبية للان تختار
لغة ال #C .. و من خلال استطلاعي و استفساري من بعض
الخبراء في هذا المجال نصحت ب #C .. لكن المشكلة لم اتمكن من الحصول على نسخة من ال VS.NET و ال SDK فالأولى سعرها 3500 $ و الثانية 900$ .. و هذا رقم خيالي بالنسبة لطالب مثلي ..
و طبعا لا توجد نسخ حتى الان و لو وجدت أرجو ان تدلوني عليها ..
أما بخصوص الموقع فأنا لا استطيع ان اكتب دروسا في لغة لم اجربها
للأسباب التي ذكرتها بالأعلى .. لذا ان رأى أحدكم انه متمكن منها فليكتب دروسا موثوقا من دقتها و يرسلها لي و انا سأضيفها للموقع و الذي سأنقله لسيرفر خاص تحت اسم "قلب العرب" ..

You mean you were working using COM components and ASP.I also used the same way ,by developping COM components in Visual Basic and Visual C++ and access them from ASP.Now it is so easy to develop Components .For example in the past ,every COM DLL need to be registered using the command regsvr32,now in the .NET environment you do not need to do that.All you need to do is to place the dll under the /bin directory of your web application and there is no need to restart the server as it picks up all the new components as soon as they are saved in that directory.
This means easy development and testing process.
You can also use the COM components you have developed in VB or C++ in ASP.NET by adding them to the tool box.Once you do that you will be able to call methods on these objects without problems.

I use both of C# and VB.NET.Some people prefer C# because of its syntax.Developping ASP.NET in VB.NET or c# is the same.Why
Because it is the same API,only the syntax is different.All the classes in VB.NET are in C# and even the methods signature are 95% the same
If you have a VB background then you should choose VB.NET.If you have Java or C++ background then C# is better for you.This is not true all the time but it is just a simple logic.

I have this in my mind a long time ago.The only problem I have is that I am waiting to get an Arabic Windows operating system to be able to write in Arabic.Inshallh that will be soon.
