Make sure this is not PCI modem..PCI modem they dont work with linux AT ALL

If this is the case go and buy EXTERNAL modem or ISA modem

US ROBOTICS they have very good modem for this perpose..

Second..you need WVDIAL package If you dont have it download it from redhat or make seach for this package

after you extract this package you need to configur it

Use

wvdialconfig /etc/wvdial.conf this command will configure your modem under redhat

then edite /etc/wvdial.conf

and type in there youre ISP phone number

and you should be in good shape
