Silver Bells Wedding Cars
Silver Bells is an expanding wedding car hire company which offers its customers a wide range of chauffeur driven vehicles for hire. They have been using a manual file-card system to run their order processing system, but the larger volume of business has made this difficult to operate and after several costly mistakes they have realised that they need to use modern information technology if their business is to expand efficiently.
They have therefore asked you as an I.T. Consultant to design a suitable computerised database system to replace the existing manual system. During discussions you have obtained the following information.
The company has several vehicle types available, Rolls Royce limousines, Classic American Cars, Horse-drawn carriages, Vintage cars, etc..
The Chauffeurs need specialised skills to drive these vehicle types and a record is kept of the skills which each chauffeur has (there may be several skills per chauffeur).
Initial enquiries from potential customers are by telephone, if the customer wishes to make a firm order then a check is made that the type and number of vehicles requested are available at the time and date chosen. If so then chauffeurs with the appropriate driving skills are allocated at this point.
If the order goes ahead the order details are noted, the total cost of the order is calculated and an invoice for 50% of the total cost is then raised and sent to the customer as a deposit payment request. The balance is invoiced on completion of the order.
Customer records, Chauffeur records, Vehicle records, Skills records, Order records need to be stored in the database.
